There’s nothing I enjoy more than bringing you products that I love, and in 2014 it’s one of our goals to bring you even more gorgeous products for the home.
One particular Australian design brand that I love for many different reasons is Bonnie and Neil, and they have recently launched a fantastic new range for summer called South Pacific.
The first things that spring to my mind when I hear those two words are the beach and the ocean (my favourite places) so this range in particular really resonates with me and allows us all to bring a little more paradise into our homes.
Now if you are unfamiliar with Bonnie and Neil products, cast your mind back to the very first room reveal on The Block Sky High in late 2013. Trixie and Johnno used Bonnie and Neil plywood wall tiles in their first room as well as a few other little Bonnie and Neil products. These wall tiles received praise from the judges and people all over Australia were running out to replicate the look in their own bedroom.
A little bit about Bonnie and Neil
Bonnie Ashley and Neil Downe are the creatives behind Bonnie and Neil who is known all over for their beautiful range of Australian flora and fauna inspired handmade textiles, including cushions, tablecloths, hand-towels and linen, and also their variety of unique timber products screen-printed with their unique designs.
With a background as a florist and textile designer, Bonnie is passionate about using patterns that are otherwise overlooked in everyday life. Her background really shines through in their diverse range of floral and geometric patterns. Neil, on the other hand is all about the timber and furniture making, driven by simplicity and sustainability and ensuring there is certain truth to the materials being used in his furniture design.
Self-confessed compulsive hoarders, this talented design duo have taken their love of vintage style fabrics and beautiful timber and created functional and decorative pieces that combine both of their backgrounds perfectly.
The South Pacific Range
The new South Pacific collection draws its inspiration from flora and fauna from the Pacific, as well as Bonnie’s New Zealand heritage. Bonnie explains, ‘the palette is made of bold hues inspired by the blues of the ocean and island landscapes. The Pacific is also a fascinating area in terms of pattern, so textiles and their cultural relevance were also a source of inspiration’.
The range includes all the much-loved favourites such as cushions, tablecloths, printed plywood wall tiles and even ceramics. The palette is amazing; it’s cool, calm and inspires more dreams laying on the beach at a tropical destination.
